Description:

Two prestigious penthouses at Palazzo Vincenti Mareri, an 18th century palace designed by the renowned architect Giuseppe Valadier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuseppe_Valadier), famous for, among other works: Clocks with mosaic faces on top of the façade belltowers, Basilica of Saint Peter, The Vatican (1786–90); Villa Torlonia, Rome (1806 onwards); General plan for access to the Imperial Forums (1811); General plans for Piazza del Popolo (1793), creating its elliptical plan and linking it via stairs and terraces with the Pincio, including the Casina Valadier (1816) in the Borghese Gardens.

The Palazzo is situated in Rieti, the geographical centre of Italy, 50 miles north of Rome. It is located in the historical city centre, facing the Flavius Vespasianus Theatre, and it is surrounded by the ancient city walls.

The Counts Vincenti Mareri, were a lineage of the Counts of Marsi, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counts_of_Marsi), descendants of Charlemagne (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlemagne). Among some of the most illustrious family members, Tommaso Mareri, who had important political office on behalf of King Charles I of Anjou (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_I_of_Naples) and was among the founders of the city of L'Aquila, the Arch-Bishop Antonio Vincenti Mareri (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ippolito_Antonio_Vincenti_Mareri) and Saint Philippa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippa_Mareri). In the late 1700’s, Count Giacinto Vincenti Mareri commissioned the design of the Palazzo to the architect Giuseppe Valadier. In 1832, Count Giacinto Vincenti Mareri hosted King Ferdinand II of Naples in his Palazzo, as the King went to Rieti to admire the Marmore's Falls, a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans.

For sale are both the lower and upper penthouses. The lower penthouse is sold together with the original Italian 18th century furniture, original hardwood parquet flooring and gold-inlaid doors.
